Abu Tahir the jurist narrated to us... from Ibn Abbas that he prayed during an earthquake in Basrah. He prolonged the standing, then bowed, then raised his head and prolonged the standing, then bowed, then raised his head and prolonged the standing, then bowed and prostrated. Then he stood for the second unit and did likewise, so his prayer consisted of six bowings and four prostrations. Qatadah said in his hadith: 'This is the prayer for signs.' Then Ibn Abbas said: 'This is how the prayer for signs is performed.'
