أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ الْحَافِظُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ أنبا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ أنبأ أَبُو الْعُمَيْسِ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ إِلَى عُمَرَ ؓ فَقَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ آيَةٌ فِي كِتَابِكُمْ تَقْرَءُونَهَا لَوْ عَلَيْنَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ نَزَلَتْ لَاتَّخَذْنَا ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ عِيدًا قَالَ وَأِيُّ آيَةٍ؟ قَالَ {الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الْإِسْلَامَ دِينًا} [المائدة 3] فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ الْيَوْمَ الَّذِي نَزَلَتْ فِيهِ وَالْمَكَانَ الَّذِي نَزَلَتْ فِيهِ نَزَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِعَرَفَاتٍ فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ
انگریزی ترجمہ
Tariq ibn Shihab said: 'A Jewish man came to Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: O Commander of the Faithful, there is a verse in your Book that you recite; had it been revealed to us, the Jewish community, we would have taken that day as a festival. He asked: Which verse? The man said: "This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as your religion" [al-Ma'idah 5:3]. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I know the day on which it was revealed and the place where it was revealed. It was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) at Arafat on a Friday.'
