أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ أنبأ ابْنُ بِشْرٍ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ وَاللهِ لَأَغْزُوَنَّ قُرَيْشًا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَاللهِ لَأَغْزُوَنَّ قُرَيْشًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَاللهِ لَأَغْزُوَنَّ قُرَيْشًا ثُمَّ سَكَتَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ يُحْتَمَلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ﷺ إِنْ صَحَّ هَذَا لَمْ يَقْصِدْ رَدَّ الِاسْتِثْنَاءِ إِلَى الْيَمِينِ وَإِنَّمَا قَالَ ذَلِكَ لِقَوْلِ اللهِ ﷻ {وَلَا تَقُولَنَّ لِشَيْءٍ إِنِّي فَاعِلٌ ذَلِكَ غَدًا إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللهُ} [الكهف 24]

Another narration from Ikrimah, raised to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: By Allah, I will certainly attack Quraysh - then said 'in sha Allah.' Then: By Allah, I will certainly attack Quraysh, in sha Allah. Then: By Allah, I will certainly attack Quraysh - then he was silent, then said: In sha Allah. The shaykh said: It is possible that the Prophet, if this is authentic, did not intend to connect the exception to the oath, but rather said it in compliance with Allah's words: 'And never say of anything, I shall do such-and-such tomorrow, except that Allah wills.'
