Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Abdullah ibn Ja'far al-Farisi narrated to us, Ya'qub ibn Sufyan narrated to us, Yusuf ibn Adiyy narrated to me, Abd al-Rahim ibn Sulayman narrated to me from Asim al-Ahwal from Ikrimah from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood over a man who had placed his foot on the side of a sheep while sharpening his blade as it looked up at him with its eyes. He said: "Could you not have done this before? Do you want to kill it twice?" Hammad ibn Zayd corroborated him from Asim and said: "Do you want to kill it multiple deaths?" Ma'mar narrated it from Asim in mursal form (without mentioning Ibn Abbas).
