Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Furak informed us, Abdullah ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Shu'bah and Ibn Uyaynah narrated to us - and Ibn Uyaynah's narration is more complete - from Amr ibn Dinar from Suhayb, the freedman of Ibn Amir, from Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who said: "Whoever killed a sparrow without right, Allah will ask him about it on the Day of Judgment." It was asked: "And what is its right?" He said: "To slaughter it and eat it, not to cut off its head and throw it away."
