Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that Jibril made an appointment with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) at a certain hour. The hour came but he did not appear. The Prophet had a staff in his hand which he threw down and said: Allah does not break His promise, nor do His messengers. Then he turned and found a puppy under his bed. He said: O Aisha, when did this dog enter? She said: By Allah, I do not know. He commanded it to be taken out, and Jibril came. The Prophet said: You made an appointment with me and I sat waiting but you did not come. He said: The dog in your house prevented me, for we do not enter a house with a dog or an image.
