Al-Zuhri narrated from Urwah from Marwan and al-Miswar ibn Makhramah regarding the Hudaybiyyah story: Quraysh summoned Suhayl ibn Amr and told him to go to this man and make peace with him, but the terms must include his returning this year. Quraysh said: The Arabs must not hear that he entered upon us by force. Suhayl went out, and when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saw him approaching, he said: The people have decided on peace since they sent this man. The terms of the peace were: that war would cease between them for ten years, people would be safe from one another, he would return that year and come the following year to stay for three days, entering only with the weapons of a rider with swords in their sheaths, whoever comes to the Muslims from Quraysh without permission of his guardian would not be returned, and whoever comes to Quraysh from the Muslims without permission of his guardian would be returned, with trust between them, and no stealing or treachery.
