أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ أنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَالِبٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ أَبُو سَوَّارٍ الْقَاضِي ثنا وُهَيْبٌ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ ؓ سَأَلَ النَّاسَ مِنْ عَلِمَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْجَدِّ شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ مَعْقِلٌ أَعْطَاهُ السُّدُسَ قَالَ مَعَ مَنْ وَيْلَكَ؟ قَالَ لَا أَدْرِي قَالَ لَا دَرَيْتَ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ قَالَ حَجَجْتُ مَعَ عُمَرَ فَأَنْشَدَ النَّاسَ مَنْ كَانَ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَذْكُرُ فِي الْجَدِّ شَيْئًا فَقَامَ مَعْقِلُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ فَقَالَ أَنَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِفَرِيضَةٍ فِيهَا جَدٌّ فَأَعْطَاهُ ثُلُثًا أَوْ سُدُسًا فَقَالَ عُمَرُ مَا الْفَرِيضَةُ؟ قَالَ لَا أَدْرِي فَرَكَلَهُ عُمَرُ وَقَالَ لَا دَرَيْتَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَدْرِيَ وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى عَنْ يُونُسَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ فَجَمَعَ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَعَلَ لِلْجَدِّ نَصِيبًا وَرَوَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْوَهْبِيِّ عَنْ يُونُسَ وَرَوَاهُ ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ عَنِ الزَّعْفَرَانِيِّ عَنْ شَبَابَةَ عَنْ يُونُسَ

Abu al-Husayn ibn Bishran informed us: Isma'il ibn Muhammad al-Saffar narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ghalib narrated to us: Abdullah ibn Sawwar Abu Sawwar the judge narrated to me: Wuhayb narrated from Yunus from al-Hasan from Ma'qil ibn Yasar that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the people: 'Who among you has heard anything from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) regarding the grandfather?' Ma'qil said: 'He gave him a sixth.' Umar said: 'With whom, woe to you?' He said: 'I do not know.' Umar said: 'Then you know nothing.' In another narration from Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq from Abu Ishaq from Amr ibn Maymun, he said: 'I performed Hajj with Umar, and he asked the people if anyone had heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) mention anything about the grandfather in inheritance.' Ma'qil ibn Yasar al-Muzani stood and said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) being asked about an inheritance case involving a grandfather, and he gave him a third or a sixth.' Umar said: 'What was the inheritance case?' He said: 'I do not know.' Umar kicked him and said: 'You know nothing! What prevented you from knowing?' In another narration, he gathered the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and assigned the grandfather a share.
