Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Among the Children of Israel there was a man called Jurayj, who used to worship in his hermitage. One day his mother came and called him, saying: O Jurayj, my son, look down at me so I can speak to you, I am your mother. He said: O Lord, my prayer or my mother? And he continued his prayer. She came back and called him several times, saying: O Jurayj, my son, look down at me. He said: O Lord, my prayer or my mother? And he continued his prayer. She said: O Allah, do not let him die until You show him the faces of prostitutes. There was a shepherdess who used to tend her sheep near his hermitage. She committed fornication and became pregnant. When caught, it was asked: By whom? She said: By Jurayj, the man of the hermitage. They came with axes and picks, saying: O Jurayj, you hypocrite! They told him to come down, but he refused and continued praying. They began demolishing his hermitage. When he saw that, he came down. They tied a rope around his neck and hers and paraded them among the people. He placed his finger on the baby's belly and said: O child, who is your father? The child said: My father is so-and-so, the shepherd. They kissed Jurayj and said: If you wish, we will rebuild your hermitage in gold and silver. He said: Rebuild it as it was."
