حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ مِنْ آلِ ابْنِ الْأَزْرَقِ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي مَاءِ الْبَحْرِ هُوَ الطَّهُورُ مَاؤُهُ الْحَلَالُ مَيْتَتُهُ.

Abd al-Rahman told us, from Malik, from Safwan ibn Sulaym, from Sa'id ibn Salamah of the family of Ibn al-Azraq, from al-Mughirah ibn Abi Burdah, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said concerning seawater: "Its water is purifying and its dead creatures are lawful."
