Surayj told us: Abdullah ibn al-Mu'ammal told us, from Ibn Abi Mulayka, from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As, that he wore a gold ring, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, looked at him as though he disliked it, so he threw it away. Then he wore an iron ring, and he said, "That is worse, and worse still," so he threw it away. Then he wore a silver ring, and he said nothing about it.
