Yahya narrated from Hisham — he dictated it to us — my father narrated to me: I heard Abdullah ibn Amr directly saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: Indeed Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from people, but He takes away knowledge by taking away the scholars, until when no scholar remains, people take ignorant ones as leaders. They are asked and they give verdicts without knowledge. So they go astray and lead others astray.
