حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ وَكَيْفَ السُّنَّةُ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ صَلَّاهَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَكَبَّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَفَّ وَرَاءَهُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنَّا وَأَقْبَلَتْ طَائِفَةٌ عَلَى الْعَدُوِّ فَرَكَعَ بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ سَجَدَ مِثْلَ نِصْفِ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا فَأَقْبَلُوا عَلَى الْعَدُوِّ فَجَاءَتْ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى فَصَفُّوا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَامَ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ فَصَلَّى لِنَفْسِهِ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمٌ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَزْوَةً قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ فَوَازَيْنَا الْعَدُوَّ وَصَافَفْنَاهُمْ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.

Abdur-Razzaq told us, Ibn Jurayj informed us: Ibn Shihab told me about the prayer of fear and how the sunnah is performed, from Salim ibn Abdullah, that Abdullah ibn Umar used to relate that he prayed it with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said the takbir, and a group of us formed a row behind him while another group faced the enemy. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) bowed with them for one rak'ah and two prostrations - he prostrated as long as half of the dawn prayer - then they withdrew and turned to face the enemy, and the other group came and formed a row with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he did the same with them. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the salutation, and each man of the two groups then stood and prayed for himself one rak'ah and two prostrations. Abu al-Yaman told us, Shu'ayb informed us, who said: I asked az-Zuhri, who said: Salim informed me that Abdullah ibn Umar said: I went on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) toward Najd; we faced the enemy and lined up opposite them - and he mentioned the hadith.
