Jarir told us, from Mansur, from Habib, from Tawus, who said: A man said to Ibn Umar: "Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, claims that witr is not obligatory." He said: A man asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about the night prayer, and he said: "The night prayer is performed two by two; and when you fear the approach of dawn, then pray witr with a single rak'ah."
