حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مَوْلَى آلِ حَاطِبٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ تُوُفِّيَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَظْعُونٍ وَتَرَكَ ابْنَةً لَهُ مِنْ خُوَيْلَةَ بِنْتِ حَكِيمِ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ الْأَوْقَصِ قَالَ وَأَوْصَى إِلَى أَخِيهِ قُدَامَةَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَهُمَا خَالَايَ قَالَ فَمَضَيْتُ إِلَى قُدَامَةَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ أَخْطُبُ ابْنَةَ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ فَزَوَّجَنِيهَا وَدَخَلَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ يَعْنِي إِلَى أُمِّهَا فَأَرْغَبَهَا فِي الْمَالِ فَحَطَّتْ إِلَيْهِ وَحَطَّتْ الْجَارِيَةُ إِلَى هَوَى أُمِّهَا فَأَبَيَا حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَ أَمْرُهُمَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ قُدَامَةُ بْنُ مَظْعُونٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ابْنَةُ أَخِي أَوْصَى بِهَا إِلَيَّ فَزَوَّجْتُهَا ابْنَ عَمَّتِهَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ فَلَمْ أُقَصِّرْ بِهَا فِي الصَّلَاحِ وَلَا فِي الْكَفَاءَةِ وَلَكِنَّهَا امْرَأَةٌ وَإِنَّمَا حَطَّتْ إِلَى هَوَى أُمِّهَا قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هِيَ يَتِيمَةٌ وَلَا تُنْكَحُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهَا قَالَ فَانْتُزِعَتْ وَاللَّهِ مِنِّي بَعْدَ أَنْ مَلَكْتُهَا فَزَوَّجُوهَا الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ.

Ya'qub told us: My father told us, from Ibn Ishaq: Umar ibn Husayn ibn Abdullah, client of the family of Hatib, told me, from Nafi', client of Abdullah ibn Umar, from Abdullah ibn Umar, who said: Uthman ibn Maz'un died and left behind a daughter of his by Khuwaylah bint Hakim ibn Umayyah ibn Haritha ibn al-Awqas. He said: He had entrusted guardianship to his brother Qudamah ibn Maz'un. Abdullah said: They were both my maternal uncles. He said: So I went to Qudamah ibn Maz'un to propose marriage to the daughter of Uthman ibn Maz'un, and he married her to me. Then al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah went in to her mother and enticed her with wealth, so she inclined toward him, and the girl inclined toward her mother's desire. They both refused (to accept the existing marriage) until the matter was raised to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Qudamah ibn Maz'un said, 'O Messenger of Allah, my brother's daughter, whose guardianship was entrusted to me - I married her to her cousin, Abdullah ibn Umar, and I did not fall short regarding her in righteousness or suitability, but she is a woman, and she has simply inclined to her mother's desire.' The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'She is an orphan and may not be married except with her consent.' He said: So, by Allah, she was taken away from me after I had already possessed her (in marriage), and they married her to al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah.
