Mu'ammal told us, Hammad - meaning Ibn Zayd - told us, Ata' b. al-Sa'ib told us: Muharib b. Dithar said to me: "What did you hear Sa'id b. Jubayr relate from Ibn Abbas about al-Kawthar?" I said: I heard him say that Ibn Abbas said: "This is the abundant good." Muharib said: "Glory be to Allah, how rarely does a word fall from Ibn Abbas!" I heard Ibn Umar say: When "Indeed We have given you al-Kawthar" was revealed, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is a river in Paradise, its banks are of gold, flowing over pebbles of pearl and ruby, its water sweeter than honey, whiter than milk, colder than snow, and more fragrant than musk." He said: "Ibn Abbas spoke the truth; this, by Allah, is the abundant good."
