Isma'il told us, Ayyub informed us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, who said: I was with Ibn Umar when he was asked about nabidh made in earthenware jars. He said, "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade it." That was hard for me when I heard it, so I went to Ibn Abbas and said, "Ibn Umar was asked about something," and I began to make it seem serious. He said, "What is it?" I said, "He was asked about nabidh in earthenware jars, and he said the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade it." He said, "He spoke the truth; the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade it." I said, "What is the jarr?" He said, "Anything made of clay."
