حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْوَلَاءِ وَعَنْ هِبَتِهِ.

Sufyan narrated to us: 'Abdullah ibn Dinar told me, [that] he heard Ibn 'Umar say: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade selling the right of wala' (patronage) and giving it away as a gift.
