حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ بَيْنَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي قَرِيبٍ مِنْ ثَمَانِينَ رَجُلًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِمْ إِلَّا قُرَشِيٌّ لَا وَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ صَفْحَةَ وُجُوهِ رِجَالٍ قَطُّ أَحْسَنَ مِنْ وُجُوهِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَذَكَرُوا النِّسَاءَ فَتَحَدَّثُوا فِيهِنَّ فَتَحَدَّثَ مَعَهُمْ حَتَّى أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ يَسْكُتَ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ فَتَشَهَّدَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ يَا مَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ فَإِنَّكُمْ أَهْلُ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ مَا لَمْ تَعْصُوا اللَّهَ فَإِذَا عَصَيْتُمُوهُ بَعَثَ إِلَيْكُمْ مَنْ يَلْحَاكُمْ كَمَا يُلْحَى هَذَا الْقَضِيبُ لِقَضِيبٍ فِي يَدِهِ ثُمَّ لَحَا قَضِيبَهُ فَإِذَا هُوَ أَبْيَضُ يَصْلِدُ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Ya'qub told us: my father told us, from Salih — Ibn Shihab said: Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utba told me that Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), close to eighty men of Quraysh, none among them but a Qurayshi — by Allah, I have never seen faces more handsome than their faces that day — and they mentioned women and spoke about them, and he spoke with them until I wished he would stop. He said: Then I came to him, and he recited the testimony of faith, then said, "To proceed, O assembly of Quraysh, you are the people of this authority as long as you do not disobey Allah. But if you disobey Him, He will send against you one who will strip you bare as this stick is stripped" — and he stripped a stick that was in his hand, and it became white and smooth.
