حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ بْنِ السَّكَنِ إِحْدَى نِسَاءِ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا يَوْمًا فَقَرَّبَتْ إِلَيْهِ طَعَامًا فَقَالَ لَا أَشْتَهِيهِ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي قَيَّنْتُ عَائِشَةَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ جِئْتُهُ فَدَعَوْتُهُ لِجِلْوَتِهَا فَجَاءَ فَجَلَسَ إِلَى جَنْبِهَا فَأُتِيَ بِعُسِّ لَبَنٍ فَشَرِبَ ثُمَّ نَاوَلَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَخَفَضَتْ رَأْسَهَا وَاسْتَحْيَا قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ فَانْتَهَرْتُهَا وَقُلْتُ لَهَا خُذِي مِنْ يَدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ فَأَخَذَتْ فَشَرِبَتْ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْطِي تِرْبَكِ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَلْ خُذْهُ فَاشْرَبْ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ نَاوِلْنِيهِ مِنْ يَدِكَ فَأَخَذَهُ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ نَاوَلَنِيهِ قَالَتْ فَجَلَسْتُ ثُمَّ وَضَعْتُهُ عَلَى رُكْبَتِي ثُمَّ طَفِقْتُ أُدِيرُهُ وَأَتْبَعُهُ بِشَفَتَيَّ لِأُصِيبَ مِنْهُ مَشْرَبَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِنِسْوَةٍ عِنْدِي نَاوِلِيهِنَّ فَقُلْنَ لَا نَشْتَهِيهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَجْمَعْنَ جُوعًا وَكَذِبًا فَهَلْ أَنْتِ مُنْتَهِيَةٌ أَنْ تَقُولِي لَا أَشْتَهِيهِ فَقُلْتُ أَيْ أُمَّهْ لَا أَعُودُ أَبَدًا.

Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, Shu'ayb informed us, Abdullah ibn Abi Husayn narrated to me, Shahr ibn Hawshab narrated to me, that Asma' bint Yazid ibn al-Sakan, one of the women of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, said: He (Shahr) entered upon her one day, and she brought food to him. He said: "I do not desire it." She said: "I prepared Aisha for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then I came and invited him for the unveiling ceremony. He came and sat beside her. A large bowl of milk was brought, and he drank from it, then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) handed it to her. She lowered her head in shyness." Asma' said: "I scolded her and said: 'Take from the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)!'" She said: "So she took it and drank a little." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "'Give to your friends.'" Asma' said: "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, rather take it and drink from it, then give it to me from your hand.' So he took it and drank from it, then gave it to me." She said: "I sat down and placed it on my knee, then I kept turning it, following it with my lips to find the spot where the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had drunk." Then he said, referring to some women who were with me: "Give to them." They said: "We do not desire it." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not combine hunger and lying. Will you not stop saying 'I do not desire it'?" I said: "O mother, I will never do it again."
