Affan narrated to us: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Bujayd, from his grandmother Umm Bujayd, that she said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to come to us among Banu Amr ibn Awf, and I would prepare a small portion of gruel for him in a wooden bowl of mine, and when he came I would give it to him to drink. She said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, a beggar comes to me and I withhold from him some of what I have." He said, "Put in the hand of the poor person, even if it is only a burnt hoof."
