حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي نُوحُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ وَكَانَ قَارِئًا لِلْقُرْآنِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي عُرْوَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ دَاوُدُ قَدْ وَلَّدَتْهُ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ لَيْلَى ابْنَةِ قَانِفٍ الثَّقَفِيَّةِ قَالَتْ كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ غَسَّلَ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَ وَفَاتِهَا وَكَانَ أَوَّلُ مَا أَعْطَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْحِقَاءَ ثُمَّ الدِّرْعَ ثُمَّ الْخِمَارَ ثُمَّ الْمِلْحَفَةَ ثُمَّ أُدْرِجَتْ بَعْدُ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْآخِرِ قَالَتْ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَ الْبَابِ مَعَهُ كَفَنُهَا يُنَاوِلُنَاهُ ثَوْبًا ثَوْبًا.

Ya'qub narrated to us: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Nuh ibn Hakim al-Thaqafi - who was a reciter of the Qur'an - narrated to me, from a man of Banu Urwah ibn Mas'ud called Dawud, whom Umm Habibah bint Abi Sufyan, the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had nursed, from Layla bint Qanif al-Thaqafiyyah, who said: I was among those who washed the body of Umm Kulthum, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, at her death, and the first thing the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gave us was the waist-wrap, then the shift, then the head-covering, then the outer wrap, and then she was afterward enfolded in the final garment. She said: And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was at the door with her shroud, handing it to us garment by garment.
