Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us: Yazid ibn Ata narrated to us, from Yazid - meaning Ibn Abi Ziyad - from Sulayman ibn Amr ibn al-Ahwas al-Azdi, who said: My mother told me that she saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, throwing at Jamrat al-Aqabah from the bottom of the valley, with someone behind him shielding him from the people so they would not strike him with stones, while he said, "O people, let not some of you kill others; and when you throw, throw with pebbles the size of a small pea for throwing." Then he came forward, and a woman came to him with a son of hers and said, "O Messenger of Allah, this son of mine has lost his mind - pray to Allah for him." He said to her, "Bring me some water." So she brought him water in a stone basin, and he spat into it and washed his face in it, then prayed over it, then said, "Go and wash him with it, and seek healing from Allah, Mighty and Majestic." I said to her, "Give me a little of it for this son of mine." So I took a little of it with my fingers and wiped it on the side of my son's face, and he became one of the most devoted of people. I later asked the woman what had become of her son, and she said, "He recovered, the best of recoveries."
