Abd al-Rahman b. Mahdi told us, from Malik, from Abu al-Nadr, from Abu Murrah, the freedman of Aqil b. Abi Talib, from Umm Hani', that she went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Day of the Conquest. She said: I found him washing, with Fatimah shielding him with a garment. I greeted him — that was in the forenoon — and he said, 'Who is this?' I said, 'I am Umm Hani'.' I said, 'O Messenger of God, my mother's son claims he will kill a man I have granted protection to, so-and-so son of Hubayrah.' The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'We grant protection to whomever you have protected, O Umm Hani'.' When the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) finished his washing, he stood and prayed eight rak'ahs, wrapped in a garment. He said: I read to Abd al-Rahman b. Mahdi this hadith of Malik, from Abu al-Nadr, the freedman of Umayr b. Ubayd Allah, that Abu Murrah, the freedman of Umm Hani', informed him that he heard Umm Hani' bint Abi Talib — she went to the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Day of the Conquest — and he mentioned the hadith.
