Abu Salamah al-Khuza'i told us: Layth and Yunus informed us - he said: Layth - meaning Ibn Sa'd - told us, from Yazid bin al-Had, from Hind bint al-Harith, from Umm al-Fadl, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered upon al-'Abbas while he was ill and wished for death. He said: "O 'Abbas, O uncle of the Messenger of Allah, do not wish for death. If you are one who does good, then to live longer and add more good to your good is better for you; and if you are one who does wrong, then to be given respite so you may seek forgiveness is better for you. So do not wish for death." Yunus said: "and if you are one who does wrong, then to be given respite so you may seek forgiveness for your wrongdoing is better for you."
