Narrated to us by Abd al-Razzaq, who said: Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Bakr ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham, who said: "I heard Abu Hurayrah say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'Whoever is overtaken by dawn in a state of major ritual impurity, he has no fast that day.'" He said: "So my father and I set out and went in to see Umm Salamah and A'ishah, and we asked them about that, and they both informed us that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to enter the morning in a state of major impurity, not from a wet dream, and then he would fast. So we met Abu Hurayrah, and my father told him this, and Abu Hurayrah's face changed color, then he said: 'This is how al-Fadl ibn Abbas narrated it to me, and they know best.'"
