Ya'qub told us: My father told us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn al-Zubayr told me, from Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, from Aisha, wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, led the people in the prayer of fear at Dhat al-Riqa, among the palm trees." She said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, divided the people into two groups; one group lined up behind him while the other group stood facing the enemy." She said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said the takbir, and the group lined up behind him said the takbir; then he bowed and they bowed, then he prostrated and they prostrated. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, raised his head and they raised theirs with him. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, remained seated while they prostrated the second prostration by themselves. Then they stood up and withdrew backward, walking in retreat, until they took position behind the others." She said: "Then the other group came forward and lined up behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him; they said the takbir, then bowed by themselves, then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed his second prostration and they prostrated with him. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stood up in his rak'ah while they prostrated their second prostration by themselves. Then both groups stood together and lined up behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him; the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, bowed with them and they all bowed, then he prostrated and they all prostrated, then he raised his head and they raised theirs with him - all of this done by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, very swiftly, sparing no effort to make it as light as he could. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gave the closing salutation and they gave the salutation. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stood up, and the people had shared with him in the entire prayer."
