Wahb ibn Jarir told us, he said my father told me, he said: I heard Harmala al-Misri narrate from Abd al-Rahman ibn Shimasa al-Mahri, who said: I entered upon Aisha, and she said, "Who are you?" I said, "I am a man from the people of Egypt." He then mentioned a story, and she said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'O Allah, whoever is given charge over any matter of my nation and is gentle with them, be gentle with him; and whoever is harsh with them, be harsh with him.'"
