Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us: Ma'mar informed us, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, from Aisha, who said: A man asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: How does revelation come to you, O Prophet of Allah? He said: Sometimes it comes to me with a ringing like the ringing of a bell, and it departs from me after I have retained what was said, and that is the hardest of it upon me; and sometimes it comes to me in the form of a man -- or he said, the angel -- and he speaks to me, and I retain what he says.
