حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَبْرِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ دَخَلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُكَلِّمَهُ وَعَائِشَةُ تُصَلِّي فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْكِ بِالْكَوَامِلِ أَوْ كَلِمَةً أُخْرَى فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَتْ عَائِشَةُ سَأَلَتْهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَهَا قُولِي اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ الْخَيْرِ كُلِّهِ عَاجِلِهِ وَآجِلِهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهُ وَمَا لَمْ أَعْلَمْ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الشَّرِّ كُلِّهِ عَاجِلِهِ وَآجِلِهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهُ وَمَا لَمْ أَعْلَمْ وَأَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَا قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهَا مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ عَمَلٍ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ النَّارِ وَمَا قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهَا مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ عَمَلٍ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ الْخَيْرِ مَا سَأَلَكَ عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَسْتَعِيذُكَ مِمَّا اسْتَعَاذَكَ مِنْهُ عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مَا قَضَيْتَ لِي مِنْ أَمْرٍ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ عَاقِبَتَهُ رَشَدًا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا جَبْرُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ تُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهَا عَلَيْكِ بِالْجَوَامِعِ الْكَوَامِلِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا جَبْرُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ.

Aisha said: Abu Bakr came in to see the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wanting to speak with him while Aisha was praying. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her, "[Ask for] the comprehensive ones," or another such expression. When Aisha had finished, she asked him about that, and he said to her, "Say: 'O Allah, I ask You for all good, its immediate and its delayed, what I know of it and what I do not know, and I seek refuge in You from all evil, its immediate and its delayed, what I know of it and what I do not know. I ask You for Paradise and whatever brings one closer to it in word or deed, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and whatever brings one closer to it in word or deed. And I ask You for the good that Your servant and messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked You for, and I seek refuge in You from what Your servant and messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sought refuge from. And I ask You that whatever You have decreed for me in any matter, You make its outcome guidance.'" [It is also reported, through other chains from Umm Kulthum bint Abi Bakr, from Aisha, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her, "[Ask for] the all-comprehensive ones," and he related the hadith, and a similar account is given through another chain as well.]
