Affan told us, saying Wuhayb told us, saying Hisham bin Urwah told us, from his father, from Aisha, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was bewitched, to the point that he imagined he was doing something when he had not done it. Until one day, I saw him supplicating, and he said: I sensed that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has given me an answer concerning what I had asked Him about. He said: Two men came to me; one sat at my head and the other at my feet. One of them said: What is the ailment of this man? The other said: He is bewitched. He said: Who bewitched him? He said: Labid bin al-A'sam. He said: With what? He said: With a comb, combed-out hair, and the spathe of a male date-palm. He said: Where is it? He said: In Dhi Arwan. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went there, and when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, returned, he told Aisha, saying: It was as if its palm trees were the heads of devils, and as if its water was the soaking-water of henna. I said: O Messenger of Allah, will you not bring it out for the people? He said: As for Allah, Mighty and Majestic, He has healed me, and I feared to stir up evil among the people because of it.
