Abd al-A'la told us, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Urwah b. al-Zubayr, from Aishah, that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) swore not to go in to his wives for a month. She said: He remained away twenty-nine days. She said: I was the first he came to, and I said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Did you not swear a month?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) counted the days as twenty-nine and said, "The month is twenty-nine days."
