Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, who said: al-Jurayri informed me, from Abdullah bin Buraydah, that a man from among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, traveled to Fadalah bin Ubayd while he was in Egypt. He arrived to find him stretching out a she-camel of his. He said: I have not come to you as a visitor; I have only come because of a hadith that reached me from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and I hoped you might have some knowledge of it. He saw him disheveled and said: What is it that I see you disheveled, while you are the governor of the town? He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to forbid us from excessive self-indulgence. And he saw him barefoot, and said: What is it that I see you barefoot? He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded us to go barefoot at times.
