حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ كَامِلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ حِمْصَ الْبَجَلِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي الْمُهَلَّبُ بْنُ حُجْرٍ الْبَهْرَانِيُّ عَنْ ضُبَاعَةَ بِنْتِ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ أَبِيهَا أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى إِلَى عَمُودٍ وَلَا عُودٍ وَلَا شَجَرَةٍ إِلَّا جَعَلَهُ عَلَى حَاجِبِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ وَالْأَيْسَرِ وَلَا يَصْمُدُ لَهُ صَمْدًا.

Ali ibn Ayyash narrated to us: Abu Ubaydah al-Walid ibn Kamil, of the people of Homs, al-Bajali, narrated to us: al-Muhallab ibn Hujr al-Bahrani narrated to me from Duba'ah bint al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad, from her father, that he said: "I never saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, pray toward a pillar, a piece of wood, or a tree except that he placed it in line with his right or left eyebrow, and he would not face it directly straight on."
