He said: I read to Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi: Malik, from Abdullah ibn Abdullah ibn Jabir ibn Atik, from Jabir ibn Atik, that he said: Abdullah ibn Umar came to us in Banu Mu'awiyah, a village of the villages of the Ansar, and said to me: "Do you know where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed in this mosque of yours?" I said: "Yes," and I pointed him to a section of it. He said: "Do you know the three things he asked for there?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Then tell me them." I said: "He asked that no enemy from outside them be given power over them, and that they not be destroyed by famine years, and both were granted to him; and he asked that their violence not be placed among themselves, but that was withheld from him." He said: "You have spoken truly, and internal strife will not cease until the Day of Resurrection."
