حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْعَدَنِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَقْرَءُونَ وَالْإِمَامُ يَقْرَأُ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَنَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا إِلَّا أَنْ يَقْرَأَ أَحَدُكُمْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ.

Abdullah ibn al-Walid al-Adani narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, Khalid al-Hadhdha' narrated to us, from Abu Qilabah, from Muhammad ibn Abi A'ishah, from a man among the Companions of Muhammad, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Perhaps you recite while the imam is reciting? He said this three times. They said: Indeed we do that. He said: Then do not do so, except that one of you recite the Opening of the Book.
