Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Ghasil narrated to us, from Hamzah ibn Abi Usayd, from his father, and from 'Abbas ibn Sahl, from his father -- the two of them said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by us along with some of his companions, so we went out until we set off toward an orchard called al-Shawt. When we reached two orchards, we sat down between them. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Sit down," and he himself went in. Then al-Jawniyyah was brought and set apart in a house among the palm trees -- Umaymah bint al-Nu'man ibn Shurahbil -- and with her was a nursemaid of hers. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went in to her, he said: "Grant me yourself." She said: "Would a queen grant herself to a commoner?" -- My father said (and someone other than my father said: a woman from Banu al-Jawn called Umaynah) -- She said: "I seek refuge in Allah from you." He said: "You have indeed sought refuge in One who grants refuge." Then he came out to us and said: "O Abu Usayd, clothe her in two Persian garments and send her back to her family."
