حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَرِيزٌ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُمَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ حَوَالَةَ الْأَزْدِيِّ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَيَكُونُ أَجْنَادٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ شَامٌ وَيَمَنٌ وَعِرَاقٌ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِأَيِّهَا بَدَأَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ أَلَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ أَلَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ فَمَنْ كَرِهَ فَعَلَيْهِ بِيَمَنِهِ وَلْيَسْقِ فِي غُدُرِهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ تَوَكَّلَ لِي بِالشَّامِ وَأَهْلِهِ.

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, al-Harith ibn Yazid narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Rabah, from Junadah ibn Abi Umayyah, from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit, from 'Abdullah ibn Hawalah al-Azdi, from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: "Whoever is saved from three things has indeed been saved: my death, the Dajjal, and the killing of a caliph who is steadfast upon truth, fulfilling his duty."
