Hammad b. Khalid told us, Malik told us, from Yazid b. Khusayfah, from al-Sa'ib b. Yazid, from Sufyan b. Abi Zuhayr, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: "Whoever keeps a dog that is of no use for crops or livestock, a qirat is deducted from his good deeds every day." Al-Sa'ib said: I said to Sufyan: "Did you hear this yourself from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?" He said: "Yes, by the Lord of this mosque."
