حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ قِيلَ لِأُسَامَةَ أَلَا تُكَلِّمُ عُثْمَانَ فَقَالَ إِنَّكُمْ تَرَوْنَ أَنْ لَا أُكَلِّمَهُ إِلَّا سَمْعَكُمْ إِنِّي لَا أُكَلِّمُهُ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ مَا دُونَ أَنْ أَفْتَتِحَ أَمْرًا لَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ افْتَتَحَهُ وَاللَّهِ لَا أَقُولُ لِرَجُلٍ إِنَّكَ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ وَإِنْ كَانَ عَلَيَّ أَمِيرًا بَعْدَ إِذْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ قَالُوا وَمَا سَمِعْتَهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ يُجَاءُ بِالرَّجُلِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُلْقَى فِي النَّارِ فَتَنْدَلِقُ بِهِ أَقْتَابُهُ فَيَدُورُ بِهَا فِي النَّارِ كَمَا يَدُورُ الْحِمَارُ بِرَحَاهُ فَيُطِيفُ بِهِ أَهْلُ النَّارِ فَيَقُولُونَ يَا فُلَانُ مَا لَكَ مَا أَصَابَكَ أَلَمْ تَكُنْ تَأْمُرُنَا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَانَا عَنْ الْمُنْكَرِ فَقَالَ كُنْتُ آمُرُكُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَلَا آتِيهِ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ الْمُنْكَرِ وَآتِيهِ.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Ya'la ibn Ubayd told us, al-A'mash told us, from Abu Wa'il, who said: It was said to Usamah: Why do you not speak to Uthman? He said: You think that I would not speak to him except within your hearing. I do speak to him privately, between him and me, without opening a matter I would not want to be the first to open. By Allah, I will not tell a man that he is the best of people, even if he is my ruler, after I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say something. They said: And what did you hear him say? He said: I heard him say: A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and cast into the Fire, and his intestines will spill out and he will circle around them in the Fire like a donkey circling its millstone. The people of the Fire will gather around him and say: O so-and-so, what is wrong with you? Did you not used to enjoin good and forbid evil? He will say: I used to enjoin good upon you but not do it myself, and forbid evil but do it myself.
