حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ فِي الْأَسْوَاقِ وَمَعِي طَيْرٌ اصْطَدْتُهُ قَالَ فَلَطَمَ قَفَايَ وَأَرْسَلَهُ مِنْ يَدِي وَقَالَ أَمَا عَلِمْتَ يَا عَدُوَّ نَفْسِكَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَرَّمَ مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا.

Ibrahim ibn Abi al-Abbas told us: Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi al-Zinad told us, from Shurahbil ibn Sa'd: Zayd ibn Thabit told me: 'I was in the markets with a bird I had caught, and he slapped the back of my neck and released it from my hand, and said: "Do you not know, O enemy of your own soul, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, has forbidden hunting between its two lava tracts?"'
