Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Umayyah, from someone who related to him, from the mother of Ubayy ibn Ka'b's child (umm walad), from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, that a man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: "When did you last have a fever, that heat between the skin and the flesh?" He said: "Indeed that is a pain the like of which has never afflicted me." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The believer is like a young, tender plant: it reddens at times and yellows at other times."
