حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ و حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الْحَرَّانِي حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ الطُّفَيْلِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْلَا الْهِجْرَةُ لَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ وَلَوْ سَلَكَ النَّاسُ شِعْبًا أَوْ قَالَ وَادِيًا لَكُنْتُ مَعَ الْأَنْصَارِ.

Zakariyya ibn Adiyy narrated to us -- and Abdullah narrated to us: my father narrated to me: Ahmad ibn Abd al-Malik al-Harrani narrated to us: Ubaydullah ibn Amr narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from At-Tufayl ibn Ubayy, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Were it not for the migration, I would have been a man of the Ansar; and were the people to travel through a mountain pass" -- or he said "a valley" -- "I would be with the Ansar."
