Abdur-Rahman ibn Mahdi and Abu Amir told us, they said: Zuhayr — that is, Ibn Muhammad — told us, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from al-Tufayl ibn Ubayy ibn Ka'b, from his father, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said, "My likeness among the prophets is that of a man who built a house, making it beautiful and complete, but left in it the space for one brick, not placing it. So people began to go around the building, marveling at it and saying, 'If only the place of this brick were completed.' I am, among the prophets, the place of that brick."
