Mu'ammal told us, Sufyan told us, Aslam al-Minqari told us, from Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Abza, from his father, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: "O Ubayy, I have been commanded to recite to you such-and-such surah." He said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, was I mentioned there?" He said: "Yes." I said to him: "O Abu al-Mundhir, were you pleased by that?" He said: "What would prevent me, when Allah, blessed and exalted, says: 'Say, by the bounty of Allah and by His mercy — so in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate.'" Mu'ammal said: I said to Sufyan: "Is this recitation found in the hadith?" He said: "Yes."
