Bahz told us, Hammad ibn Salamah told us, Simak told us, from Jabir ibn Samurah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, whenever he ate food, would send what remained of it to Abu Ayyub, and Abu Ayyub would place his fingers where he saw the fingerprints of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was brought food and found in it the smell of garlic, so he did not eat it and sent it to Abu Ayyub. Abu Ayyub did not find in it the mark of the Prophet's fingers, peace and blessings be upon him, so he said: "O Messenger of Allah, I did not find in it the mark of your fingers." He said: "I found in it the smell of garlic." He said: "Do you send to me what you yourself do not eat?" He said: "Indeed, the angel comes to me."
