Yahya ibn Sa'id told us, from Shu'bah: Iyad Abu Khalid told me, who said: There was a dispute in words between two neighbors of Ma'qil ibn Yasar, and the oath fell upon one of them, so I heard Ma'qil ibn Yasar say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever swears an oath in order to seize by it the property of his brother will meet Allah while He is angry with him." Ya'la ibn Ubayd told us: Isma'il - meaning Ibn Abi Khalid - told us, from Isma'il al-Awdi, from the daughter of Ma'qil al-Muzani, who said: When my father became gravely ill, Ibn Ziyad came to him, and he related the hadith - meaning he related it as above.
