حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْأُرْدُنِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ الْقَيْسِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَرْزَبٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ أَنَّ أَبَا مُوسَى حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ لَمَّا هَزَمَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ هَوَازِنَ بِحُنَيْنٍ عَقَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَبِي عَامِرٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَلَى خَيْلِ الطَّلَبِ فَطَلَبَ فَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ طَلَبَهُمْ فَأَسْرَعَ بِهِ فَرَسُهُ فَأَدْرَكَ ابْنَ دُرَيْدِ بْنِ الصِّمَّةِ فَقَتَلَ أَبَا عَامِرٍ وَأَخَذَ اللِّوَاءَ وَشَدَدْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ دُرَيْدٍ فَقَتَلْتُهُ وَأَخَذْتُ اللِّوَاءَ وَانْصَرَفْتُ بِالنَّاسِ فَلَمَّا رَآنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحْمِلُ اللِّوَاءَ قَالَ يَا أَبَا مُوسَى قُتِلَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ يَدْعُو يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ عُبَيْدَكَ عُبَيْدًا أَبَا عَامِرٍ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْ الْأَكْثَرِينَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ.

Ali b. Abdullah told us: al-Walid b. Muslim told us: Yahya b. Abd al-Aziz al-Urduni told us, from Abdullah b. Nu'aym al-Qaysi, who said: al-Dahhak b. Abd al-Rahman b. Arzab al-Ash'ari told me that Abu Musa told them: When Allah, Mighty and Majestic, defeated Hawazin at Hunayn, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, appointed Abu Amir al-Ash'ari over the pursuing cavalry. So he pursued them, and I was among those who pursued them. His horse hastened with him and he overtook the son of Durayd b. al-Simma. He killed Abu Amir and took the banner. I charged upon the son of Durayd and killed him, and took the banner, and returned with the people. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw me carrying the banner, he said, "O Abu Musa, was Abu Amir killed?" I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, raise his hands supplicating, saying, "O Allah, Your servant, Your servant Abu Amir, make him among the most numerous on the Day of Resurrection."
