Bahz told us: Shu'bah told us: al-Ash'ath ibn Sulaym told us, from Mu'awiyah ibn Suwayd ibn Muqarrin, from al-Bara' ibn Azib, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded us with seven things and forbade us seven things. He mentioned what he commanded them: visiting the sick, following funeral processions, saying a blessing for the one who sneezes, returning the greeting of peace, fulfilling the oath of one who swears, answering the one who invites, and helping the wronged. And he forbade us silver vessels, gold rings—or he said gold bands—brocade, silk, thick silk brocade, silk cushions, and the striped silk called qassi. Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'bah told us, from al-Ash'ath ibn Sulaym, mentioning the same meaning, except that he said, "responding to the one who sneezes."
