Abd al-Rahman told us, from Sufyan — Zayd ibn al-Hubab told us, Sufyan informed us, the meaning being the same — from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from Ubayd ibn Nudaylah — Zayd said: al-Khuza'i — from al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, that two co-wives, one of them struck the other with a tent pole and killed her. The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, ruled the blood-money upon the paternal kin of the killer, and for what was in her womb a ghurrah. The bedouin said, "Would you fine me for one who neither ate nor drank, nor cried out at birth? Such a case should go unpunished." The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "That is rhymed speech like the rhymed speech of the bedouin, yet for what was in her womb there is a ghurrah."
